Mayor Englund told the press that his city's legal fight to close an adult book and movie store is likely over after the U.S. Supreme Court decided to not get involved in the case. JRL first reported on this story back on Monday June 14th.
England states that he doesn't think the city should put any more money into a losing effort especially with our city's government already having issues with covering our departments.

Last Monday June 14, 2010, the Supreme Court officially stated that the city of New Albany has been trying for six years to close the former New Albany DVD, which is now called Cleopatra's. A federal appeals court ruled that New Albany must present clear evidence that the store causes crime or other problems before it can restrict its operations.
New Albany DVD,LLC's attorney, Steven Mason, stated that his check of statistics for the last five years found that the business caused "zero crime." Once again, we are pleased to report that the retail portion of the adult film industry has won another victory in the courts.
