INFANT LEFT IN CAR RUSHED TO HOSPITAL WITH 104 DEGREE TEMP WHILE FATHER VISITS ADULT BOUTIQUE

A West Palm Beach man browsed adult videos and toys last Friday March 26, 2010, while leaving his infant daughter unattended in a unlocked vehicle, police told JRL.Defendant Rafael J. Garcia, 28, was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

According to a sheriff's arrest affidavit, Garcia left his 9 month daughter inside his blue Ford Escort for 36 minutes while he browsed inside the Guys and Dolls Adult Book Store at 464 South Military Trail in suburban West Palm Beach.
Sheriff deputies responded about 10:52 a.m. last Friday Morning to a call of an infant child left in a vehicle. The engine was not running, three windows were fully closed, and the driver's window was slightly cracked open, the arrest report said.

The 9 month old girl was found with a temperature of 104 degrees and was transported to Palms West Hospital in serious condition. Her condition is not believed to be life-threatening, the sheriff's office told JRL.
The Guys and Dolls Video surveillance video showed Garcia enter the establishment at about 10:20 a.m. and exit at about 10:56 a.m. Garcia told investigators that he only planned to be in the store for a few minutes as he was shopping for a sexy role-playing outfit for his wife.

Garcia stated that the store did not have the outfit and he lost track of time while browsing, the report stated.The West Palm Beach city attorney's office is now reviewing this case. JRL will bring more on this story as it develops.
