TAX REVENUE COULD BE A GOOD SIGN FOR ADULT BOOKSTORES CONTINUING IN IOWA

An area community is already setting up boundaries for businesses that doesn't even exist yet in their district.
The Hampton city council voted in an astounding 5 to 1 in support of an adult business ordinance. The new law allows only those types of retail shops to set up in the Industry Park area.
The one and only councilwomen who voted against it stated "If people were really against an adult bookstore or a adult movie theater it would go out of business," said City Council Member Pat Palmer.
The new ordinance also has other restrictions such as the building can only be painted one solid color and have no neon or digital flashy-style lights to enhance their presence.

Mayor of Hampton says the city looked at other cities where adult entertainment lives at downtown and found some interesting information.
According to City Council May Diane Weldon, "Those studies show that it down grades the property and there is a higher crime rate."
Mayor Weldin says they can't stop an adult business from coming in, but they can prepare itself by choosing where they can build in our communities.

I wonder if the tax revenue that these businesses generate for the city, state and federal levels have anything to do with their decision. Adults can decide for themselves whether or not they wish to have gay or heterosexual entertainment in their communities without having to drive 40 to 50 miles away from their home.
