DRAKES EROTICA EMPORIUM EXPANDS SANTA MONICA BLVD LOCATION

When the top brass here at JRL gave me this late breaking news assignment yesterday, I was shocked and thrilled at the same time. Sunday December 9th, 2007 was the final day for Drakes Melrose in West Hollywood, CA.
Drakes Erotica Emporium has decided to expand their Santa Monica Blvd location for the Gay Community while at the same time dramatically are cutting overhead for the new year.
After serving the Melrose Community for over 30 years, Drakes went out with a HUGE Blast. Customers who hadn't visited the Melrose location in years dropped by to give their goodbyes and, to make sure to get the full scoop on the expansion of the Santa Monica Blvd location.
After totally remodeling the Melrose location, which rumors are was an investment of nearly $ 75,000, are now going to be incorporated into the Santa Monica Blvd location. As you read this article, the Drakes, which is located at 8932 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA, is going through a huge remodeling project.
So if you were wondering why so many Man-Studs were in and out of their during the early business morning, now you know why. Ray Alustiza, General Manager of the Drakes Erotica Emporium told JRL.
"Although it is bittersweet and sad, it is also a time for new beginnings. During the past year we have been busy re-building Drake’s starting with the Melrose store as many of you are aware it was a disaster when we took over. I am pleased to say we were successful in the remodel giving the store a new look to brand going forward….this is our goal."
"The West Hollywood location remains open and stands ready to fill the void. The look we created for Melrose is being transferred to West Hollywood which will enhance the West Hollywood location and provide a positive shopping experience" Ray told JRL.
In making this decision we felt that by remaining in West Hollywood we will be able to service the community that has supported us over the years.
As we stand back and review our position we want to create an exciting outlook to the future and make West Hollywood our base.
