U.S. DEPARTMENT PREPARING TO RELEASE NEW REGULATIONS ON 2257

The U.S. Department of Justice's "Semiannual Regulatory Agenda," which was released last Monday November 24, 2008 in the Federal Register, the new and updated regulations under 18 U.S.C. ยง2257, will be made public sometime this month.
What seems to be odd however, is that the release date is set for 12/00/08! This is the first that this reporter has seen of a date marked for 12/00/08. I guess someone in Washington wasn't paying attention to such important legisltation.

Sources in the Justice Department have leaked that "the new regulations will be released by Dec. 20 or 21, 2008.
"We've already received several calls from content producers inquiring about the new regulations, and we're looking into finding the answer to that question right now, but we don't currently have that information," stated a spokesperson for the Justice Department's Child Exploitation and Obscenity in a phone interview.

Sources at the Washington Post, seem to believe that the final regulations have been ready for nearly two weeks and that they are for some reason or another, are stalling on the release of them.
According to AVN Online, "The Free Speech Coalition, in commenting on the 2007 proposed regulations, included a study done by a D.C.-area regulatory analyst, which indicated that the proposed new regulations would have a disastrous economic effect on the Gay and Heterosexual Adult industry.
Therefore, the Justice Department's claim accompanying the 2005 regulations, is that, "Based upon the preliminary information available to the Department through past investigations and enforcement actions involving the affected industry, the Department is unable to state with certainty that this rule, if promulgated as a final rule, will not have any effect on small businesses of the type described in 5 U.S.C. Sec. 601(3)," could not credibly be able to be applied to the 2008 revision."
