BEAR® AWAKENS FROM SIX YEAR HIBERNATION
By: Jeff Livingston, Staff Writer 09-15-08 12:00 a.m. PDT
BEAR magazine is back on the prowl after a hiatus of six years. Bear Omnimedia LLC, its new publisher, has just released issue number 65.This “revival” issue is free and is being distributed to bear and gay events, bookstores. Approximately 40,000 copies of this special issue are being circulated around the world.
When BEAR magazine launched in 1984, it put a name to a growing gay community that had previously gone unnoticed: the unapologetically, and often hairy, hyper-masculine gay male.
With its no-nonsense editorials, blue-collar fiction and candid black-and-white photos of working men and bikers, BEAR celebrated unshaven, primal masculinity.
In 2008, BEAR underwent the most dramatic metamorphosis of its history, re-emerging with a new look and a new direction to reflect the many levels of an emerging contemporary, mature, masculine, bear movement.

The result is a crisp, modern look at bears with fresh editorial content featuring hot erotic photography and provocative fiction, blended with humor and informative articles that are of interest to both bears as well as the gay mainstream.
BEAR is supported by the new BEAR video line which features classic bear videos repackaged and released on DVD, as well as new BEAR movies. “Cabin Fever".
