OUR OWN WILLIAM LOPEZ CHILLS WITH FAMED URBAN DIRECTOR ROB GRECO OF REAL URBAN MEN PRODUCTIONS/LATINO FAN CLUB
WILLIAM: The legendary Latino Fan Club is Hangin’ with JRL and I have the destinct pleasure of chillin’ with urban director Rob Greco. Rob, it’s great to have you here with us on JRL. I have to ask you first off, how did you choose the cast for Queens Plaza Pickup?
ROB: I had been doing a lot of still photography for BLACK INCHES magazine and I’m always on the look out for new faces (and bodies) to get on film. Most of the cast members have had layouts in the magazine, so when I asked a few of them if they would like to shoot some video they were anxious to give it a try. We then put out an open call on our website (www.latinofanclub.com) and that completed the cast. I never work with a model based only on his looks. I really have to have a good feeling about the guy, and he has to feel comfortable working with me. Great looks with no personality is a real turn off to me.
WILLIAM: The Latino Fan Club has had a solid reputation for delivering some of the hottest Latin and Puerto Rican gay xxx films for many years. How did you come to work with the famous label?
ROB: Brian Brennan and I were introduced to each other by a mutual friend, and we just hit it off. We became good friends before we ever talked about working together. He would invite me to the set while he was shooting and he would occasionally let me direct a scene for him. We were having lunch one day and
I was telling him about some episodes in my past when he asked me to put what I was telling him on paper and we could start a project together. I did just that and we wound up making it into “RUFFNECK REHAB”. I was hooked!! We have been working on various projects ever since.
WILLIAM: Was it a mission shooting Queens Plaza Pickup?
ROB: The entire job was a pleasure. Sure there were a few headaches, but looking back on it I can only hope all films go as smoothly as this one.
WILLIAM: You’ve got some stiff competition….. how do you intend to stay on top?
ROB: The buying public determines who is on top and who is not. The public wants quality work and some thought put into their films. Many producers and directors feel they can shoot any black or Latin guy with a “thug-look” and a hard-on and turn it into a video. I have no intention to ever go that route. I want to give the public exactly what they want “the hottest models in a quality presentation”.
WILLIAM: Can you tell us what’s in the works next from Rob Greco?
ROB: Our next video is called “REAL URBAN STORIES”. It’s the true stories about our straight models re-enacting their first man-on-man experiences. I thought our boys on the D.L could best explain these themselves. I’m always working behind the scenes on all The Latino Fan Club films. The latest one, “ROCKY RUIZ” is in my opinion,
probably THE BEST LATINO FAN CLUB FILM EVER!! Anyone who has ever enjoyed a LFC film has to see this one. The guys are beautiful and the story is fantastic. I knew this would be a hit since the first time Brian got the idea. Brian and I will also be working on ‘RUFFNECK RELAPSE”, a sequel to “REHAB”.
WILLIAM: How did it feel to hit the #1 spot….. for 3 weeks?
ROB: It was unbelievable. When I told HAVEN (the star of Queens Plaza Pickup) that we had hit #2 the first week he told me not to worry we would be #1. The next week I looked and there we were!!! #1!!! And we were #2 on the Latin charts at the same time. When I checked the third week and saw we were #1 on the Black charts, #2 on the Latin charts and just entered the Gay charts at #20, all in the same week I knew REAL URBAN MEN PRODUCTIONS were on the map!!!!
WILLIAM: Do you have an exclusive contract with Latino Fan Club or is it a loose agreement. In other words, are you alound to shoot for other studios?
ROB: I don’t have nor do I need a contract with Brian. We work together because we want to and that’s what makes it the greatest job I could ever wish for. I have nothing but admiration and respect for him. Everyday with him is a valuable learning experience and I hope we go on working together forever. Our films are distributed by PALADIN VIDEO, probably the best distributor in the country. I couldn’t be happier anywhere other than where I am right now.
WILLIAM: Rob, do you have any shoutouts for your JRL fans reading this?
ROB: I do have to shoutout to the cast of Queens Plaza Pickup for making this all happen. I want to thank HAVEN for all the ‘behind the scenes’ help he gives me everyday. And I want to tell all our JRL fans to keep checking us out at www.latinofanclub so you don’t k miss anything. Thank you all…
WILLIAM: Rob thanks for kicking it with me today.
