Andy Powell: Kinsey, thank you for spending a bit of time on JRL with us today.

Kinsey Russell: Hello Andy. It's my pleasure to finally appear on JRL.
Andy Powell: The Videoboys label has some of the hottest twink gay porn features in the marketplace. The classic Hard At Work [2005], Pierre's After School [2006], not to mention Snapshots of Shane [2007]....What can gay consumers expect from your upcoming release Hooked On Cock Hungry Bottom Boys [2009] which by the way is being exclusively distributed by New York based EuroMedia Distribution.
Kinsey Russell: Well, as for the DVD, Hooked On Cock Hungry Bottom Boys [2009], the title really says it all. I mean of course there are great tops in this video but were really focusing on bottoms in this one. We picked the bottoms for this video not just because they were sexy and had hot bodies, but because they truly loved getting fucked.
We know these models pretty well and we know that when they are on camera riding a huge dick and appear to be in a state of ecstasy, it's not an act. They really love it. All of the bottoms on this video are very emphatic in their preference for a top with some.. um, shall we say "volume displacement capabilities" and we did our level best to provide them with the motivation they needed to give a great performance.

Kinsey Russell: Ok, I'm glad you asked me that because a lot of people probably don't know where we stand on this issue. Videoboys doesn't make bareback scenes. We never have and we never will. We are not evangelical about it and we don't presume to tell anyone else what to do. But for us making porn that excludes bare backing is just the right thing to do.
Andy Powell: It's not just an issue of the health of the models we work with, but more than that, we think it's important that safer sex is seen in porn. We know that there are a lot of young gay guys out there watching our videos. They email us all the time. These young guys weren't around at the height of the AIDS crisis and really have very little, if any, information about safer sex.

They seem to be getting all their education about sex from internet porn and the message they're getting is "Bareback is the way to go". We just want them and everyone else to know that hot, steamy, dirty, orgasmic, deeply satisfying sex can include condoms. Watch the DVD and I think you'll agree.
Andy Powell: Thank you for setting the record straight on that Kinsey because a lot of merchants feel that european content always comes with bareback content. With the accept ion of a few studios that are well known to do condom gay porn films. Let's talk about Big Dicks, true cock suckers...how do you get them to perform so well in your movies Kinsey?
Kinsey Russell: We don't rely on our directing skills and certainly not on the models' acting skills to get great performances. We really rely on lust.I'll give you a typical example. On this new DVD, "Hooked on Cock Hungry Bottom Boys", you will see the scene with Andrew Elliot and Cliff Beltane.

That scene isn't a pairing that we came up with.
Andrew looked through every scene we had ever done and he kept coming back with the same request... "Can I do a scene with Cliff Beltane?" He probably asked me this twenty times. We have a pretty good idea of the kind of guys Cliff likes so we sent Cliff some pictures of Andrew (and Andrew's ass) and he took one look and wanted to get to it right away.

When they met for the shoot they were pretty shy with each other the whole time we were setting up but you could cut the sexual tension with a knife. During the preliminary photo shoot, when they were just kissing and touching, there was enough wood to build an arc.
So by the time we started shooting the video they were ready to burst. It was the same sort of thing with Chase Nailor and Ken. Chase put in a specific and enthusiastic request for a scene with Ken. Our bottoms really seem to know what they want.
So what it comes down to is that experience has shown us the best performances come from models that REALLY want to have sex with each other. We are pretty strict on that. We have to be convinced that there is some genuine chemistry between two models before we undertake to shoot them in a duo.
If one or the other model is only lukewarm on the project then we just wait until we have a pairing where both models can't wait to get each other's clothes off. It's not always easy to do but the results are really worth it.
Andy Powell: When I went to review the fabulous www.videoboys.com web site, I was taken by Lukas Wild. Where did you find that super stud for the Videoboys label?
Kinsey Russell: Andy you are a fine judge of twink flesh. Lukas is a personal favorite of mine as well.
Lukas actually came to us through another one of our longtime models, Jessy Karson. Jessy had spotted Lukas on some sort of dating site and they had been carrying on an online courting ritual for several months before Lukas made his way to Montreal.

Kinsey Russell: We used to have these BBQ's in Montreal twice a year and a lot of our very good customers, friends and fans of our live shows would arrive from all over the world to just spend some time in Montreal, meet some of the models and enjoy a big BBQ party. I found out pretty quick that when these guys went home after, they were quite interested to keep up with the gossip in Montreal.
Which model was dating which other model, or which "straight" guy had sex with another guy for the first time, etc, etc. I found that I was answering a lot of emails. So I just decided to lump all the latest news about the models from Montreal into one mass email and let everyone take what they wanted from it.
Now the newsletter has evolved into mainly news about the latest scenes we are shooting and our friends are able to pretty much read between the lines. We also make a newsletter with information about updates on the Jeremyroddick.com web site and the Squirtz.com web site. We will dish out more overt gossip with our upcoming blog.
Andy Powell: Cool, that's a great way to grown a fan base..by their stomachs as well as their cocks!....Now I did want to touch on this..
Not only am I a staff writer on JRL but I have the pleasure of being in the JRL charts department and when I checked the numbers on pre books, and wholesale numbers regarding Hooked On Cock Hungry Bottom Boys [2009].
I'm thinking that you are going to debut within the next couple of weeks on the JRL Weekly Top 100 with impressive numbers.
How does it feel when gay consumers race to get your product when it hits on-line retailers and racks in retail outlets?
Kinsey Russell: Of course as a businessman you gotta be happy anytime you make some good sales.
But more than that, I still get a thrill walking into a big porn shop and seeing our stuff on the shelf, people looking at it, talking about it.
To a great extent, the porn we produce is a labour of love, we are producing the porn that we want to see. So when consumers gobble up what we are making and THEN come back for another one, it's a real validation. It's gratifying to know that our ideas about what makes for great porn is shared by so many people.
Andy Powell: Tell us about your relationship with New York based EuroMedia Distribution.
Kinsey Russell: I have to admit I have spent so many hours on the phone and Skype with Hugo from EuroMedia that I feel like I know him very well (and some of his deep dark secrets too) even though I have never met him in person. That is something that I really like about the relationship with EuroMedia Distribution.
When we make production plans, they are right there to bounce ideas off of and to offer suggestions. It's very helpful to have some input from the people who are in direct contact with the retailers. Hugo's suggestions and ideas always fit well with the kind of videos we make.

Andy Powell: Let's tap into Video on Demand ..I see that the VideoBoys label can be found on AEBN Network and the GayHotMovies network. How's VOD treating you these days with the economy still just now starting to attempt to come back? Meaning, credit cards are finally able to be used to purchase minutes!
Kinsey Russell: For the moment we see VOD as just a supplement to DVD sales and subscription sales for us. The big VOD sites seem to be all about the big studios and they don't give much pixel space to anyone else. If customers aren't specifically looking for a Videoboys title when they go to a VOD site, they aren't likely to ever see it.
We realize that online delivery is definitely a big part of the future but we sure hope that in the future the big VOD sites will find better ways of promoting a greater variety of product to their customers. There should be a VOD site that's like the Sundance Film Festival.
Andy Powell: Videoboys Entertainment can be found at the www.studmall.com web site. Will you be having future projects on the fresh new StudMall.com web site for gay consumers for the Christmas Holidays?
Kinsey Russell: So far everything we have produced is available on Studmall. But to answer your question, "Hooked on Cock Hungry Bottom Boys" [2009] will be our last release before the new year. But keep your eyes peeled on StudMall.com in the new year for the 3rd in the "Hooked" series.
I can't give details, but let's just say that the size queens out there are going to be very interested in this one.
Andy Powell: Studios are finding major retail online web sites pirating their content. Have you ran across this problem either in the U.S. or in the EU?

Kinsey Powell: So far I haven't discovered any online retailers doing such a thing. But we keep our eyes open. We have many friends out there who report to us about their retail experience with our DVD's whether from an online store or a brick and mortar store. If we did find out about a retailer pirating our content we would definitely not be in the mood to be merciful.
Andy Powell: Do you monitor web sites to see if your content is being stolen by webmasters?
Kinsey Russell: Yes, we do try to watch for that. We don't have the resources to dedicate vast amounts of time to it, but we have stumbled upon web sites that have been using our content without permission before. Usually our approach to this is to send a nice request for them to remove the content.
So far, that's been enough. I hope the day never comes when we have to start taking people to court.

Andy Powell: Being in the JRL charts department, we are filled with both positive and negative feedback from retailers across the country. One question that persistently gets ask ...is that...for example...The content that can be found exclusively on www.VideoBoys.com....is that going to be exclusive content for the members of VideoBoys.com or will we see the same content packaged in the future for 2010 releases?
Kinsey Russell: We will have content on the site that will not appear on DVD and we will also have content that will appear on DVD but not on the web site. But for sure there will be some overlap and I think that's good for everyone. Both the DVD consumer and the internet video consumer deserve something that can't be found anywhere else. But I also think that it's important to have the best of what we produce available in as many mediums and distribution streams as possible.
Andy Powell: What are the future plans for 2010 for Videoboys Entertainment?
Kinsey Russell: This industry is such a moving target it's really hard to make concrete plans more than a few months in advance. The trends and the technologies shift so fast that you have to be very flexible and able change directions at the drop of a hat.

I am stalling and making excuses here because I'm afraid that I will tell you our plans for 2010 only to look back at the end of the year to see that we did the exact opposite. For sure in 2010 we will return to doing scenario based scenes in addition to our current reality style.
We also have planned to do some in-depth focus on a few specific models and let their fans get to know them better. We do have some great original ideas for content scenes that are completely new, but I can't tell you those at the moment. But I will be sure to give JRL the scoop as soon as we have something ready for the public.
Andy Powell: If there are potential models out there wanting to get into the business...how would they contact your production company? And remember JRL fans, this is only for serious people who want to inquire about becoming a Gay Porn Actor?
Kinsey Russell: Though most of our models come to us referred by our other models, we do get email from prospective models all the time.
